The end of December 2021 was extremely fruitful and full of concert
performances for the KLSML Boys’ Choir. On the eve of St. Nicholas Day,
December 18, young choristers took part in a festive concert on St. Michael’s
Square in Kyiv. Participation in the cultural project ”Shchedryk. The Magic of
Christmas” dedicated to “Shchedryk” by Mykola Leontovych was outstanding for
young choristers, because that evening they performed on the same stage with
famous Ukrainian singers, choirs and orchestras, including: National Honored
Academic Orchestra of Ukraine, National Honored Choir “Dumka ” , Academic
Chamber Choir “Khreshchatyk” and many others. This action was also accompanied
by visual images of a video mapping show, which depicted the history of the
world-famous carol. Viewers saw four historical stages of Shchedryk’s life: the
pagan period and the Ukrainian context of the song, the European, American
period and the present.
On December 22, 23 and 24, the Boys ‘ Choir took part in the concerts of the
National Operetta of Ukraine “Strauss in Operetta 2021”. Little and well-known
works by J. Strauss were performed by the symphony orchestra, choir and ballet.
The conductor-producer of this project – People’s Artist of Ukraine Oksana
Madarash presented the music of the Strauss family and introduced to the audience
vivid images and new interpretations of unknown musical treasures of the Strauss
family.
Final in 2021, for the KLSML Boys’ Choir was a concert at the National
Philharmonic of Ukraine with the National Presidential Orchestra “Strauss New
Year’s Fairy Show”, which took place on December 30.
It is worth noting that all these performances would have been impossible
without the titanic and tireless work of the artistic director and conductor of the
Boys’ Choir – Maria Koval and concertmaster – Svitlana Matviienko. We will
follow the performances of this energetic team.
